Good Choices Charts™ were developed by Daniele Ott of Ott To Get Organized as a fun tool for helping kids learn to make good choices.

Good Choices Charts™ will help you and your family:

  • Get organized and have fun doing it!
  • Target specific areas of responsibility and behavior.
  • Take control of household chores.
  • Build a sense of accomplishment and self-esteem.
  • Improve communication and avoid nagging.
  • Set goals and achieve them.
  • Learn time-management skills.
  • Gain an understanding of rewards and consequences.

What are Good Choices Charts™?

Good Choices Charts™ are fun, easy to use, and completely customizable! They are different from a standard chore chart. I tried lots of charts with my own children when they were little, but I never got the results I wanted.

I wanted a chart that would:

  • Help simplify our lives.
  • Look fun and be easy for everyone to use.
  • Be reusable so I wouldn't have to keep buying more.
  • Teach our kids how to follow a routine and help around the house.
  • Teach behavior management through rewards and consequences.
  • Build self-esteem.
  • Be customized to my child's specific needs.

So I designed Good Choices Charts™. My kids loved them because each had his/her own special, age-appropriate chart, designed with the specific things that he or she was working on. Your kids will love them too!!

All Good Choices Charts™ come with a detailed instruction sheet. They are laminated so they wipe off easily with water when you use the dry erase pen that is included. They are 8.5 x 14 in. and come with magnets so you can attach them to a magnetic surface, or tack them to a wall or bulletin board.

Check out the cool features:

  • Your child gets a fresh start each week.
  • Rewards are fun and your children get to be part of the process.
  • Mom and Dad will find themselves nagging less.
  • Smileys make kids happy and feel good about themselves.
  • Frowneys are a consequence that makes sense.

Raising healthy, responsible, nice kids takes positive and consistent parenting. Good Choices Charts™ make it much easier!

How Do Good Choices Charts™ Work?

The concept is simple and it really works!! Children would much rather work towards positive rewards than avoid negative consequences.

We customize your child's Good Choices Chart™ with the responsibilities and positive behaviors they are working on, and the behaviors you would like them to avoid.

Good Choice Examples

  • Brushing and flossing teeth
  • Being a kind friend
  • Using "please" and "thank you"
  • Picking up toys

Poor Choice Examples

  • Yelling
  • Arguing with siblings
  • Using unkind words
  • Talking back

When your children do something from the good choices list, they check off one of their smiley faces. When they do something from the poor choices list, they check off a frowney face. Depending on your child's behavior, you can give extra smileys and frowneys at your discretion.

Before the week begins, you sit down with your child and talk about your expectations and the reward they are working towards for the week. At the end of the week you calculate the percentage of smileys vs. frowneys, and give them the corresponding reward.

The goals are:

  • To focus on positive choices.
  • To strive to do better each week.
  • To work to diminish negative choices.
  • To have fun learning!
  • To feel less stressed!

All Good Choices Charts™ are $23.95 and include free customization for your child.
